Kevin Newman, Anchor and Executive Editor, Global National
Covering stories around the world for more than 30 years, Kevin Newman is Canada's most watched national news anchor. He has anchored live coverage of the September 11 tragedy, Papal Funeral Coverage from Rome, and the Canadian Elections in 2004, 2006 and 2008.
Not only has he worked for CBC and CTV National News in Canada, Kevin also worked for ABC News in New York alongside Peter Jennings and Ted Koppel, and was co-anchor of Good Morning America.
Since 2001 he has been the founding Anchor and Executive Editor of 'Global National with Kevin Newman'. He also owns the video production company 'NewMan Media', is an Honourary Ambassador for the MS Society of Canada, a Director of the Kamloops Firefighters Foundation, and a member of the Digital Media Network. His journalism excellence has been awarded with several Emmy Awards, Gemini Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of Western Ontario.

Tony Chapman, CEO, Capital C
Tony Chapman is a passionate Canadian, entrepreneur, and the Founder and CEO of Capital C, Marketing Magazine's Agency of the Year 2006 and one of Canada's most respected branding and advertising agencies. Tony is also one of the youngest individuals to be inducted into the Marketing Hall of Legends, and is a frequent contributor to the mainstream press on topics including consumerism, brand-building, and business strategy.  His thinking has been featured in television documentaries in England, Australia and Canada, and in webcasts around the globe. Tony is also a sought after speaker and a keynote at major conferences throughout North America.  He is currently finishing his first book, The RecoEconomy™ with Bennett Klein, Partner and Creative Director of Capital C.
Minister Tony Clement, Minister of Industry
Tony Clement was re-elected to the House of Commons in 2008, representing the Northern Ontario constituency of Parry Sound-Muskoka. On October 30, 2008, he was appointed Minister of Industry, with responsibilities for competitiveness, innovation, sectoral strategies, and economic development in Northern Ontario. He currently chairs the Cabinet Committee on Economic Growth and Long-term Prosperity, and sits on the Cabinet Committee on Priorities and Planning.
Minister Clement was first elected to Parliament in 2006 and was appointed Minister of Health and Minister responsible for FedNor. Prior to this, Mr. Clement was a member of Ontario's provincial legislature from 1995 to 2003. In 1997, Mr. Clement was appointed Minister of Transportation of Ontario. In 1999, he became Minister of the Environment and, later, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. In 2001, he was appointed Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and, during this time, provided leadership for the country during the SARS outbreak.
Prior to his election to Parliament, Mr. Clement was counsel to a national law firm, a Visiting Fellow at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law, and a small business owner.
On February 3, 2007, Tony Clement was awarded the Courage in Public Policy Award from the Canadian Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute of Canada. The award was given to Mr. Clement to recognize his leadership in supporting the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer Corporation. Mr. Clement holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a law degree from the University of Toronto. He was born in Manchester, England. Mr. Clement is married to Lynne Golding and is the father of three children. He resides in Port Sydney, Ontario.
Joseph Iuso, CEO, UseMyBank, a product of UseMyServices Inc
Joseph has worked in the fields of e-Commerce and EFT integration before
starting UseMyBank in 2002.  His extensive experience over the past 20 years
within the realm of self-service banking integration has helped many clients
provide online, real-time transaction processing within the EFT community.
Clients in the past have included CIBC, ISM, IBM, ACI, ING Direct, Canadian
Tire, and Royal Bank.  With his understanding of the complex technologies
involved in self service banking, he was able to create the technology and
vision to launch UseMyBank.
Brian Crozier, Global Business Development, UseMyBank, a product of UseMyServices Inc 
Brian has over 15 years experience providing international ecommerce
payment solutions to payment processors and online merchants. He has been
the driving force behind developing business and marketing strategies for
the company. His was President of NetPayment Solutions and head of Global
Business Development for Digital Courier Technologies, both major ecommerce
processors. He was also involved with the launch and business development
for other successful online payment methods. Brian has primary
responsibility for developing new markets, banking, and government
relations.
Sarah Prevette, Founder, Sprouter
Sarah Prevette has captured attention as a passionate and pioneering web entrepreneur  - an exciting voice from inside the online community revolution. Sarah's untraditional and multi-faceted approach to branding and promotion provides actionable insight to those looking to build communities, truly engage their audiences and leverage the full power of the web.
Currently, Sarah is the founder of Sprouter, an online collaboration tool facilitating knowledge exchange between startups and business leaders. An entrepreneur long immersed in the startup community, Sarah has robust familiarity with the common pitfalls of early stage startups and the tips and tools that foster success.
Prior to starting Sprouter, Sarah built the tween pop culture community Upinion and held various strategic positions in the recently acquired Cyberbahn Group as well as at Info~Tech Research Group.

Paul Kedrosky, Senior Fellow, Kauffman Foundation
As a senior fellow at the Kauffman Foundation, Paul Kedrosky shares his experience as a technology entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and academic to explore new programming opportunities for the Foundation in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation, and capital markets. Previously, he was the executive director of the William J. von Liebig Center in San Diego, Calif. Using an innovative seed capital program, the Center catalyzes the commercialization of technologies from the internationally ranked University of California, San Diego.
Kedrosky is a venture capitalist, media personality, and entrepreneur. He is a sought-after speaker; an analyst for CNBC television; a columnist for TheStreet/RealMoney; the editor of Infectious Greed, one of the best-known business blogs on the Internet; and he is frequently quoted in major publications around the world. He has published more than 300 articles in academic and non-academic publications, including The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, and Harvard Business Review. He also is the chair of the Money:Tech conference in New York.

Mark Ruddock, Serial Entrepreneur
Mark Ruddock is a serial entrepreneur with two successful exits and over 10 years of experience at the helm of VC backed technology startups.
Most recently, Mark was the CEO of Canadian software company Viigo. Under his leadership, Viigo raised funding from both Ventures West, and RBC Venture Partners, and rapidly grew to become one of the most popular BlackBerry apps of all time. Viigo was acquired by Research in Motion in March of this year.

Tom Jenkins, Chair, CDMN Advisory Board & Chair, Open Text
Recognized as one of the "100 Most Influential People" in the world of Knowledge Management by KMWorld for five years in a row, Tom Jenkins has been involved with the Internet since it emerged as a major public network in the early 1990s. He has held executive positions at Open Text Corporation since 1995 and was instrumental in the creation of one of the first Internet search engines used by Netscape®, Yahoo!®, and IBM®. Tom went on to direct the development of the first Internet-based Document Management system, as well the earliest versions of Internet-based workflow, portal, and online meeting software. All of these component technologies are early forerunners of current Enterprise Content Management (ECM) technology. Today, Open Text is the largest independent provider of ECM software and solutions worldwide and where Tom resides as Chief Strategy Officer.
 

Gerri Sinclair, Executive Director of the Masters of Digital Media Program, Centre for Digital Media, Great Northern Way Campus
Dr. Gerri Sinclair's cross-domain career includes more than 20 years' experience spanning the fields of internet and new media technology, entrepreneurial business, academic research, and government policy.
Sinclair is currently the Executive Director of the Masters of Digital Media Program at Vancouver's Centre for Digital Media, Great Northern Way Campus. As the former chair of The Telecom Policy Review, she advised the Federal Government of Canada on the policy and regulatory environment required to support an advanced telecommunications framework. She was also the General Manager of MSN Canada, as well as the founder and CEO of NCompass Labs, an Internet web content management company spun out of Simon Fraser University in 1996 and acquired by Microsoft in 2001.
She is currently a director of the Toronto Stock Exchange, Ballard Power, the, the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and the Advisory Board on Canada's Digital Economy Strategy.  She is also the Executive Director of the GRAND Network of Centres of Excellence in Games, Animation and New Media, that was recently awarded $23M from the Canadian government and brings together 50 researches at 19 universities across Canada to investigate new applications in the emerging field of digital media.

Helen McDonald, Assistant Deputy Minister, Spectrum, Information Technologies and Telecommunications, Industry Canada
HELEN MCDONALD is Assistant Deputy Minister, Spectrum, Information Technologies and Telecommunications at Industry Canada. Helen McDonald has held various positions at Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, at the former Department of Communications, and at Industry Canada and Treasury Board Secretariat. As Treasury Board Secretariat, Ms. McDonald was responsible for articulating a strategy for the on-line provision of government services. As Assistant Deputy Minister at Industry Canada, Ms. McDonald oversees Canada's transition to a network economy by promoting the development and use of world class information and communications technologies for the economic, social and cultural benefit of all Canadians. Responsibilities include the Communications Research Centre Canada, spectrum management, advocacy and support to the ICT industry, the rural broadband program, and policies in support of electronic commerce.
 Richard C. Alvarez, President and Chief Executive Officer, Canada Health Infoway
Mr. Alvarez is a leader in Canadian health care. He is known for taking on challenging mandates and building successful organizations.
As President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Health Infoway, he has been a catalyst for accelerating the development of electronic health records in Canada. He has established strong, collaborative relationships with the federal, provincial and territorial governments and other stakeholders as the foundation for solid progress. He has articulated a broad national vision for reforming Canada's health care system through innovation and technology. On the international front, he has helped to position Canada as a world leader in health care renewal.
Recently, Mr. Alvarez was recognized at the 2007 National Builder Inductee to the Canadian Information Productivity Awards (CIPA) Hall of Fame for the leadership he has exercised throughout his career (with the Government of Alberta, the Canadian Institute for Health Information and at Infoway) in promoting the application of innovative technology to improve health care delivery for Canadians.

Sandra Pupatello, Minister of Economic Development and Trade
Deemed a "relentless pursuer" of new investment and high-value jobs for all Ontarians, Sandra Pupatello's career in the Ontario legislature dates back to 1995 when she was first elected to the Windsor West riding.
Pupatello was appointed to Cabinet in 2003. She has served as Minister of Education, Minister of Community and Social Services and Minister Responsible for Women's Issues.
For the past three years Pupatello has headed the Ontario government's economic portfolio, as the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, and previously the Minister of International Trade and Investment. As part of her expanded portfolio, Pupatello now oversees Small Business, Economic Development, International Trade and Investment.
Pupatello has deep roots in the Windsor community. She was named honorary member of the Rotary Club of Windsor and a Paul Harris Fellow. In 1996, she was named Italian of the Year in Windsor-Essex County. In 2001, the University of Windsor honoured her with the prestigious Charlie Clark Award for Outstanding Service. In March 2003, Pupatello was named "Windsor Woman of the Year". In 2007, she received the prestigious Athena Award for the Windsor area, which recognizes men and women who provide a positive role model to encourage women to achieve their leadership potential in business. In January 2009, Pupatello was presented with the Award of Excellence in Community Service by The Canadian-Italian Business and Professional Association in Windsor.

Clément Gignac, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade/MNA for Marguerite-Bourgeoys, Liberal Party of Québec
Until recently, Clément Gignac was Senior Advisor to the Deputy Minister, Department of Finance Canada, after serving for 20 years with National Bank Financial. Clément Gignac is widely recognized for his knowledge of financial issues and has ranked constantly over the last decade amongst the top strategists and economists in the country before becoming a public servant.
In light of the important challenges facing the financial system, both in Canada and internationally, the Department of Finance Canada appointed Mr. Gignac to represent Canada on a G-20 working group after the leaders' summit in Washington.
Prior to his appointment as Senior Advisor to the Deputy Minister, Clément Gignac was Senior Vice-President, Chief Economist and Strategist of National Bank Financial. Mr. Gignac graduated from Université Laval with a Master's Degree in Economics in 1980. That same year, he began his career as an economist, joining the Confédération des Caisses Desjardins. In 1984, he accepted a new challenge moving to the Quebec Department of Finance in Québec City, where he held various positions in economic forecasting and the realm of federal transfers.

 Daniel (Dan) Larocque, Vice President, Canadian Public Sector, Open Text Corporation
Dan Larocque, VP, Public Sector is responsible for managing the Canadian Public Sector line of business for Open Text that includes federal, provincial, and local-level governments. With two decades of experience managing projects for the Canadian Government, he has acquired extensive experience in Enterprise Content Management Solutions and is a leader for Open Text's Public Sector Centre of Excellence. Dan's accolades include a GTEC Gold Medal; an e-Government National Award in the category of Strategic Information Management; an industry-sponsored Canadian Information Productivity Award; a Customer Success Award for the Canadian Federal Government's RDIMS initiative; and a nomination for a national Agatha Bystram Award for Leadership in Information Management.
 

Jeff Nesbitt, Vice President, Government Relations & Strategic Programs & Executive Chair, Waterloo R&D Site, Agfa Healthcare

eff is the North American Vice President of Government Relations and Strategic Programs for Agfa HealthCare. In his role, he leads government incentives initiatives, runs the Agfa HealthCare Institute, negotiated and drives the 200m Next Generation of Jobs Investment through his Executive Chair position for the 350 person Waterloo Research & Development Office for Agfa HealthCare in Canada.
Jeff joined Agfa HealthCare through the acquisition of Mitra Imaging in 2002 and has a background in the Information & Communication Technology Sector with great Canadian success stories such as Newbridge Networks, Open Text Corporation and The University of Waterloo.

Dennis Giokas, MSc, Chief Technology Officer, Canada Health Infoway
As Chief Technology Officer for Canada Health Infoway (Infoway) and head of the Solutions Products and Services group Mr. Giokas is responsible for overall electronic health record (EHR) business and technical solution architecture, as well as the health IT standards agenda. This entails integrating and harmonizing the architecture, privacy and security, and standards activities for greater coordination and collaboration on products and services delivery.  It also entails increasing the emphasis on the implementation and client-focused service support of EHR solutions.
Mr. Giokas has nearly three decades of experience in the information management and information technology field, having held positions at Sapient Corporation, notably as Vice-President and Managing Director of its Canadian subsidiary. He has held senior positions with Digital Equipment Corporation, including those of Consulting Engineer and Group Technical Director.  And he has consulted on IT strategy in a number of industries including health care, financial services, insurance and energy services.
Mike Barron, B.Comm.,MBA, Chief Executive Officer, Newfoundland & Labrador Centre for Health Information
Mike is Chief Executive Officer with the Newfoundland & Labrador Centre for Health Information and a passionate proponent of the electronic health record agenda in Canada.
As CEO of the Centre, Mike is responsible for leading Newfoundland and Labrador's EHR development as well as providing leadership in data quality, standards, and EHR evaluation. The Centre is also actively involved in applied health research activities with a view to building health research capacity in the province. Mike is also a Director on the Centre's Board as well as a Board member of COACH and the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Applied Health Research. He currently chairs the Technical Advisory Committee for the national Health System Use of Data initiative.
Mike has 26 years experience in health information management and technology.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Masters in Business Administration from Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Diane Beattie, President, D.L. Beattie Consulting
D.L. Beattie Consulting is focused on consulting in the areas of: strategic leadership in  health information management and information technology focusing on the development of a clear vision and strategy.
The recent teams, led by Diane in London and South Western Ontario, have successfully implemented national and provincial pilots in Health Care, in the areas of Diagnostic Imaging and Electronic Patient Record. Both patients and providers are now benefiting from this ground breaking work. To foster the development of e-Health within Ontario, Diane has been a member of many advisory boards and committees including, co-chair of the Regional e-Health Steering Committee, member of the Ontario e-Health Council and Chair of the Governance Committee for the Ontario Telehealth Network. On a national bases, she is one of the initial members of CHIEF - Canada's Health Informatics Executive Forum.
Previously, Diane has served with several major corporations in the insurance, food processing and gas distribution industry and health care.  Prior to joining the London Hospitals, 9 years ago, as the Integrated VP of Health Information and CIO, she held senior positions with Union Gas in South Western Ontario.

 Oz Huner, Vice President, NexJ Systems Inc.
As Vice President at NexJ Systems Inc., Oz Huner is responsible for product strategy, marketing and sales of NexJ eHealth Solutions. Oz has over a decade of experience applying information technologies in health care and life sciences. Previously, Oz was a health IT management consultant with Deloitte Consulting, where he was responsible for advising government and healthcare organizations on electronic health records and consumer health and translational research. Prior to Deloitte, he was the Director of Research Informatics at the University Health Network, where he led a team responsible for development of an integrated clinical and research informatics platform for Canada's largest network of academic medical centres. His experience also includes work with the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation, where he led several initiatives focused on the development of software for clinical trials and cancer registries. In addition to his experience in software, Oz has been responsible for enterprise-wide information management strategies and policies for academic health sciences environment.
 Kevin J. Leonard, MBA, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (HPME), Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto
Kevin Leonard has Crohn's disease and has had frequent and extensive interactions with the healthcare system. He is a strong believer in patient empowerment and the critical role patients play in deciding about their care in consultation and collaboration with their health providers. Through Patient Destiny, he is working to expand the voice of the consumer in healthcare - the patient voice. The first step is to develop an effective eHealth system where patients have access to advanced health informatics tools.
Kevin is Associate Professor, Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (HPME), Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Founding Director of Patient Destiny. He is also Executive Director of the IMPROVE-IT Institute - Indices Measuring Performance Relating Outcomes, Value and Expenditure from Information Technology  and a Research Scientist with the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation, University Health Network. Kevin is a member of the Advisory Board for the Canadian Association for People- Centred Health.
Shirley Fenton (BES, MA), VP and Director, National Institutes of Health Informatics
Shirley Fenton is VP and Director of the National Institutes of Health Informatics, a Canada-wide, virtual institute of institutes bringing together experts in Health Informatics. As well, she is the Managing Director of the Waterloo Institute for Health Informatics Research, a Research Associate of the Computer Systems Group and Program Manager for the Applied Health Informatics Bootcamp at the University of Waterloo. Her research interests are Communities of Practice, innovative intelligent communities, Community Information Utilities/Portals, Informatics, Health Informatics and Workflow. She is involved in research programs related to technology and its deployment. She is active in building research and technology transfer relationships with healthcare providers, government and companies providing services and technology to the healthcare system. She is a member of the Intelligent Waterloo Steering Committee. Shirley Fenton is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, where she obtained her BES and MA degrees.

Michael Bidu is the President of DigiBC - The Digital Media + Wireless Association of BC, a not-for-profit association representing more than 1,000 companies generating more than $3B annually.
He is a strategic thinker, conceptual marketer and an entrepreneur at heart, who sees the convergence of wireless and digital media as a powerful medium for people and companies to connect and interact with each other to create meaningful mass collaboration and smart communities at local level on a global scale.
In July, 2009 he launched BC's Wireless Health Initiative to put a spotlight on BC's wireless health companies, the convergence of wireless, video games, life sciences and serious research, and the tremendous global opportunities that wireless health offers.
Michael is a serial entrepreneur who founded or co-founded ventures in fashion, Internet adventure travel, interactive marketing, software and Web 2.0/wireless. He is a director in the board of the Canadian Interactive Alliance (CIAIC).
He is the executive producer of Vancouver Interactive Digital Week 2010, VX 2010 Showcase, PNWS 2009 and 2010, and a co-founder of Mobile Monday Vancouver. He was featured for his views on innovation, technology, and convergence on Global TV, CBC News, Vancouver Sun, Business in Vancouver, Suite101.com and others.
Ryan Graham, BBA, MASc, Manager Hospital Informatics, St. Mary's General Hospital
As manager of hospital informatics at St. Mary's General Hospital, Ryan works closely with Decision Support and Information Systems to extend the hospital's e-Health Strategy and spearhead various Business Intelligence and Clinical Decision Support Systems.  Mr. Graham started his I.T. career in 2001 at Microsoft Canada, as marketing manager of the Microsoft Developer Network while completing his Masters of Applied Sciences.  Upon completion of his Masters he transitioned to public health care, working first at the University Health Network in Medical Informatics, and then later at St. Mary's General Hospital as a dedicated Cardiac IT Developer, Project Manager, and interim Director of Decision Support.
Steve Rankin, Founder and President, Client Outlook Inc.
Steve Rankin has over 15 years experience in the IT industry. Steve moved from IT to Health IT in 1998 and has worked as a technical product manager for a variety of healthcare IT companies. His passion to work directly with health professionals to ensure health IT meets their needs led him to found Client Outlook. Client Outlook develops software solutions to make inter-professional collaboration and medical image and information access an integrated and seamless part of care delivery. Their initial offering, eUnity, is a server-based product. Once installed, health professionals can access medical images using eUnity's zero footprint client using their favourite web-browser; regardless of their location and with no client software to manage. eUnity does this real-time and keeps medical images where they belong, with the archive they reside on. This ensures clinicians are viewing the most up to date medical data.
Dr. Joseph Cafazzo, Lead for the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation
Dr. Joseph Cafazzo is Lead for the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation, a state-of-the-art research facility devoted to the evaluation and design of healthcare technology, hosting sixty researchers and staff.  Dr. Cafazzo has been an active researcher of the use of technology to facilitate patient self-care of complex chronic conditions such as diabetes, end-stage renal disease, and congestive heart failure.  He is also active in ethnographic research related new modes of patient care mediated by technology, such as the Hospital-at-Home, and the Personal Health Record (PHR).  He has advised and conducted research for public sector policy makers and private sector medical technology companies on the design and safety of technology in healthcare. He is co-founder of the Healthcare Human Factors Group is the largest group of its kind devoted to the application of human factors engineering to problems of healthcare delivery and patient safety. He is Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, and the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, where he teaches in the areas of human factors, clinical engineering, and health informatics.
Rick Stroobosscher, Founder and President, Karos Health
Prior to founding Karos, Rick Stroobosscher served as the CTO of Medicalis of Waterloo between 2002 and 2004, where he led engineering and architected integration and clinical decision support solutions for large healthcare enterprises. From 1993 to 2002 he worked at Mitra Imaging in Waterloo. As CTO of Medicalis and Mitra, he developed innovative and standards-based technologies to enhance the integration of disparate clinical systems and the communication of medical data across the healthcare enterprise. Rick Stroobosscher was one of the primary industry architects developing solutions for archiving and distribution of image data, as well as integration of image and information systems. At Karos, Rick Stroobosscher is focused on developing products that enable the sharing of clinical information across enterprises. Using innovative technology based on open standards and supported by a team with decades of experience in Healthcare interoperability, Rick Stroobosscher's goal is to elevate the quality of patient care by facilitating collaboration between healthcare providers and the patient. Rick Stroobosscher is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, where he earned his Master of Mathematics degree in Computer Science.

Rick is a healthcare IT Executive with over 25 years' experience in healthcare information systems, including positions as the CIO for health systems, a medical research laboratory, independent consulting and as project manager for the development and implementation of the Department of Defense's global medical information system.
Rick is currently the Vice President and Chief Information Officer for Cancer Care Ontario, responsible for providing information technology and information management for the Province's cancer, chronic kidney disease and access to care programs and services.
Rick was formerly a Director at Navigant Consulting, a global professional services firm specializing in healthcare and litigation support. Rick was responsible for the healthcare IT practice. Rick was also Vice President for First Consulting Group, a healthcare IT focused firm active in helping its clients in provider, health plan, government and life sciences organizations achieve their goals through the use of information technology. Charles Parker, Executive Director, Continua Health Alliance
Charles (Chuck) Parker is the Executive Director of the Continua Health Alliance - a membership-driven company focused on developing an eco-system of interoperable personal health devices.  Through working with Standards bodies and industry experts, Continua publishes certification standards built upon international criteria from IEEE, HL7, Bluetooth, USB, and others. Dr. Ian McKillop, Executive Director, Health Research, University of Waterloo
Dr McKillop is the Executive Director, Health Research at the University of Waterloo. His office fosters linkages between industry, government, and UW researchers who share a common goal of using science and technology to advance health and health care.
Ian is jointly appointed to UW's Public Health program and the David R Cheriton School of Computer Science.  He works in the field of information management with a particular focus on data quality, incident response and performance management issues found in high-availability, mission-critical systems.

Rene Barsalo, Director - Research and Strategy, Society for Arts and Technology [SAT]
During the last 30 years, Mr. Barsalo founded several design and software companies in the field of interactive communications and e-commerce in Canada. He is also an industry builder and created the first multimedia association in Quebec in the mid 90's and was invited in 2004 by SAT to participate in their strategic planning sessions. Attracted by the high energy and innovation factor of technological arts, Mr. Barsalo never left SAT and is the human router between technological artists, researchers and entrepreneurs at the SAT. HyperActive in the Canadian arts, communication and IT sectors since the mid 80's, he is a very efficient interface between creativity and business opportunities. René is behind the UrbanHub vision at SAT and also the initiator of the PropulseART project.  PropulseART's objective is to develop software and web services enabling event organisers to connect audiovisual systems of multiple public spaces together, from concert hall to business conferences, enabling the public and presenters to interact live, to be together regardless of distances.

Michele Perras is a designer and researcher focusing on digital strategy, collaborative innovation and human-centred foresight. She is the Director of the Mobile Experience Innovation Centre, a non-profit organization dedicated to design leadership, experiential and applied research in Canada's mobile industry. Over the past decade, Michele has worked with a wide range of organizations in the educational, non-profit and private sectors. She sits on the Board of Directors for Wireless Toronto, a community-driven initiative dedicated to providing open wireless access in urban Toronto. Her background is in material culture and goldsmithing, and she is sessional faculty at OCAD. Christopher Labrador, Vice President of Advanced Research, RIM
He has over 25 years of technology and general management experience across voice & data, wired & wireless, as well as with telecom operators, SMB, and Large Enterprises.  He has led activities in the areas of research, systems engineering, architecture, software development, and product management.  He has published papers and articles in the areas of HMI, VoIP, mobile sensor networking, and has inventions in the areas of collaboration & convergence, security & authentication, distributed service & call processing, content delivery, and CASE.  Current research areas include mHealth & mobile sensor networking, coding, encryption, pattern recognition & data mining, and augmented reality HMI.

Honourable John Milloy, Minister of Research and Innovation, Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities
The Hon. John Milloy was first elected Member of Provincial Parliament for Kitchener Centre in 2003. He was re-elected in 2007 and appointed Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities on October 30, 2007. In June 2009, Milloy was also appointed Minister of Research and Innovation.
Milloy's political interest began at age 13 when he worked as a Queen's Park page and continued as he worked in political offices at both the provincial and federal level. From 1997 to 2002, Milloy served as Legislative Assistant to Prime Minister Jean Chretien.
In his first term as MPP, Milloy held the position of Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs and to the Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities. He also served as Chair of the Federal Interprovincial Municipal Relations Cabinet Committee. In November 2007, he was appointed to the provincial government's anti-poverty committee.
Milloy is past Director of Public Affairs for the Centre for International Governance Innovation in Kitchener-Waterloo. He has written on both international history and governance in the information age, recently publishing The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, 1948-1957: Community or Alliance.
 Hélène Joncas, Chief Strategy Officer, Canarie
Hélène Joncas joined CANARIE as Chief Strategy Officer in May 2009. As CSO, Ms. Joncas works directly with CANARIE's CEO to develop and execute the strategic plan and define the organization's next mandate in support of research and innovation.  She is also in charge of developing national and international stakeholder relations and overseeing the company's strategic communications activities.
Ms. Joncas has a wealth of experience in the high-tech sector, where she has held senior roles in strategic planning and analysis as well as business development and communications. Most recently at Nortel, Ms. Joncas was responsible for the Nortel-Microsoft relationship and the development of Unified Communications solutions for the Carrier market. Prior to that, she founded several companies including imGenie and SIPquest (now CounterPath). She was a principal at Inside Edge Consulting during which time she worked with Cap Gemini, Mitel and Enfotec Technical Services. Ms. Joncas has co-authored several papers on successful strategic alliances and she holds an Honours BA in psychology and a Masters of Business Administration, both from the University of Ottawa.
Zouheir Mansourati , Ph. D., Vice President, Technology Strategy, TELUS
Zouheir joined the TELUS team in November 2006 as vice president in Technology Strategy with a focus on developing and commercializing technology.  Before joining TELUS, Zouheir was CTO and vice president, product management at Olympus Microsystems America, Inc. (OMI) with responsibility for product marketing, business development and sales. Zouheir has 22 years experience in the telecommunications industry with expertise in the areas of voice switching systems, data communications, and optical networking.  Prior to OMI, Zouheir helped to launch Movaz Networks where he was CTO and VP, Product Management. He began his career at Bell-Northern Research (BNR) where he spent 13 years.
Zouheir holds a Maîtrise ès Sciences Mathématiques from Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, and M. Sc. and Ph. D. degrees in mathematics from Queen's University. He has authored numerous papers on optical networking and has been published by the Quarterly of Applied Mathematics and the Canadian Applied Mathematics Society. Rodney Wilson, Director, External Research, Ciena Communications
Rod Wilson is currently Director External Research at Ciena communications corporation. In this role, Mr. Wilson is focused on driving Ciena's technology leadership by transitioning early prototype and emerging advanced technologies from concept to full business implementation. A key vehicle for facilitating research technology transition is via research and experimental networks that are constructed and operated in partnership with leading research organizations around the world, including CANARIE (Canada), SURFnet (Netherlands), Internet 2 (USA) . He is also responsible for Ciena's  numerous strategic collaborations with Universities around the world. He is well known in the Research and Education networking community and continues to contribute to several Boards and Committees. He currently serves as a Board Member of Canada's CANARIE network, the SC2010 High Performance Computing conference committee, and Internet 2's Architecture and Operations advisory committee.
Prior to joining Ciena, he held a similar position with Nortel Networks. Previously he was vice president technology for Toronto, Canada based Niburu Corporation and was involved in business incubation and venture capital technology assessments for emerging high technology businesses. Duncan Stewart, Director, Deloitte Canada Research

 Laura Bradley, Principal, Actionable Intelligence
Laura Bradley is a professional engineer with over 20 years in the Industry in Canada. Laura has worked with major carriers and service providers as well as equipment manufacturers. Laura's responsibilities have included network implementation and planning, strategic network planning, industry analysis and competitive intelligence. Rachel Helen Ellaway, PhD., Assistant Dean and Associate Professor, Northern Ontario School of Medicine
Dr. Ellaway is the Assistant Dean and Associate Professor for Education Informatics at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and Visiting Professor in Education Informatics at St Georges University of London. Dr Ellaway is the author of the OpenLabyrinth virtual patient authoring and delivery system and chair of the AFMC Informatics Resource Group. Her work in developing and implementing profession-focused educational systems was recognised in the award of a Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education to the University of Edinburgh in 2005, the first such award given to work involving learning technologies.
 Brady Gilchrist, President and Founder, Admodo Group
Brady Gilchrist has been in the digital business from the beginning. Brady is a sailor, pilot, photographer, writer and entrepreneur. His first business was creating mobile applications - before mobile was a buzz. The technology he created was sold and a non-compete brought him into the internet business in the early 90s. His second business venture was one of Canada's first online agencies - Intermagic.

Rick Otway, Vice President, Central Canada Public Sector Operations
Rick Otway is Vice President of Central Canada Public Sector Operations for Cisco Canada. In this position he is responsible for business development and sales operations for the Government, Health, Education and Municipal marketplaces.  A 25 year veteran of Canada's high tech community, Rick joined Cisco in 1994 and has held various leadership positions in Optical sales, West Coast Operations and most recently Central Enterprise operations.  Avi Pollock, Head, Applied Innovation and Strategic Planning, Royal Bank of Canada
As Head of Applied Innovation and Strategic Planning at Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), Avi Pollock leads a team with an enterprise-wide mandate to stimulate innovative activity. With a view to "what's next," "what's new" and "what's different," his Applied Innovation team identifies and validates emerging technologies and opportunities that have the potential to drive client value and differentiate RBC from its competitors. He also is head of strategic planning for RBC's Technology & Operations organization.  Avi is a frequent speaker on innovation as well as mobile and enterprise social media strategies. Charlotte Burke is a high energy executive with 25 years experience in operating technology businesses in the Internet, mobile and computer industries. Gary A. Maavara is Vice President and General Counsel for Corus Entertainment Inc., overseeing all legal and regulatory affairs associated with the Company's extensive operations in radio, television, programming, films, books, music, toys and websites.
Prior to joining Corus, Gary was employed in a variety of executive and operating roles with CanWest Global Communications Corp. His career includes 10 years with CTV in senior level positions including Group Vice President, Programming; Vice President Sports, Chief Legal Counsel and Vice President Operations and Engineering. Prior to joining CTV, Gary practiced intellectual property and communications law at a major Bay Street law firm, with a client roster that included CTV, Standard Broadcasting, several NHL clubs and Loblaw Companies Limited.

The Honourable Konrad W. von Finckenstein, Q.C., Chairman, CRTC
THE Honourable Konrad W. von Finckenstein, Q.C., was appointed as Chairman of the CRTC on January 25, 2007. Over the course of a career in the public service that began in 1973, he has held a number of senior positions and acquired broad experience in the areas of trade, commercial and competition law. Before joining the CRTC, he served as Justice of the Federal Court.
Previously, Mr. von Finckenstein acted as Commissioner of Competition and head of the Competition Bureau of Canada between 1997 and 2003. During his tenure, he led important reviews of proposed mergers between companies, including those in the banking and airline sectors. He also investigated a conspiracy affecting the sale and supply of an additive widely used in the animal feed industry, which resulted in one of the largest fines in Canadian history. Moreover, he led the drive to establish the International Competition Network, the umbrella organization for all competition authorities from around the world, and became its founding chairman, a position he held until his appointment to the Federal Court.
 

Fernand Belisle, Consultant
Fernand Belisle is a consultant to Canadian broadcast companies. From 2001 to 2004, he worked in Portugal as Chairman of Cabovisao-Televisao per Cabo, S.A., a Portuguese telecommunications company undergoing a financial restructuring.  From 1990 to 1997, he served as Vice Chair (Broadcasting) of the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC). This followed a series of senior positions at the CRTC and the Department of Communications (now known as the Department of Canadian Heritage). Mr. Belisle's business career has included positions (including Vice-President, Finance) with Telemedia Communications Ltd. and in audit and tax specialist roles at Coopers & Lybrand. He is presently  a director of CORUS Entertainment inc.
Mr. Belisle was born in Sudbury, Ontario and hold a bachelor of Arts degree from Laurentian University of Sudbury.

Peter is Senior Partner of Nordicity Group Ltd.  Lawson A.W. Hunter, Q.C., Stikeman, Elliott
Lawson Hunter is one of Canada's pre-eminent regulatory and government relations counsel, drawing on a wide range of experience in business, government and private practice. Formerly Canada's senior civil servant in charge of competition policy and enforcement, Mr. Hunter was primarily responsible for the drafting of the federal Competition Act. From 1993 to 2003 he was a partner of Stikeman Elliott and head of the firm's Competition Group. From 2003 to 2008 he served as Executive Vice-President and Chief Corporate Officer of Bell Canada and BCE Inc., where he was responsible for overseeing regulatory, governmental relations and corporate affairs. In September 2008, he rejoined the Ottawa office of Stikeman Elliott as Counsel.
He recently co-authored a paper titled: "Scrambled Signals: Canadian Content Policies in a World of Technological Abundance" published by C.D. Howe Institute, January 2010.
 Pamela Dinsmore, Vice President, Regulatory, Rogers Communications Inc.
Pam Dinsmore is a lawyer and is Vice President, Regulatory at Rogers Communications Inc.  Pam joined Rogers Cable in 1995 as Director, Regulatory Affairs and was promoted to her current position in 1997.  Prior to joining Rogers Cable, Pam spent 8 years at the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission where she was first Legal Counsel then Chief of Staff to the Chair of the CRTC.  Pam holds a B.A. in Political Science and French from Middlebury College (1981) and an LLB from Osgood Hall Law School (1985).  She had been a member of the Ontario bar since 1987.
Pam is responsible for managing the regulatory relationship between Rogers and the CRTC and other federal government departments, boards and agencies, providing advice on regulatory issues to Rogers divisions.  Her areas of expertise include copyright, internet policy, television and distribution policy and regulation (CRTC), and the negotiation of municipal access agreements and agreements for access to telephone and hydro poles.  Pam has had extensive experience in leading RCI panels of executives before the CRTC in major policy and licensing proceedings.  She has also appeared before Parliamentary Committees on a number of occasions.
 Jason J. Kee, Director of Policy and Legal Affairs for the Entertainment Software Association of Canada
Jason J. Kee is the Director of Policy and Legal Affairs for the Entertainment Software Association of Canada (ESAC), the not-for-profit trade association that companies in Canada that publish and distribute video and computer games for video game consoles, handheld devices, personal computers and the Internet. Among other things, he monitors and analyzes issues and legislation affecting the video game industry in Canada (both domestically and internationally), and regularly works with both government and partner organizations on matters such as intellectual property policy and enforcement, international trade, tariffs, ratings, funding and tax incentives and any policies and/or legislation affecting the development, sale and marketing of entertainment software products in Canada.
Prior to joining the ESAC, Jason practiced intellectual property, information technology and entertainment law (with an emphasis on Internet, e-commerce, gaming and interactive media-related matters ) at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP. He also acted as legal and policy counsel to the Canadian Interactive Alliance / Alliance Interactive Canadienne (CIAIC), an alliance of provincial new media associations that represents the interactive media industry at a national level. He is the founder and former chair of the interactive media committee of the Canadian IT Law Association (IT.Can), on the executive of the Entertainment, Media & Communications Section of the Ontario Bar Association, and an active member of numerous other legal associations.
Jean-Michel Texier, Nstein Technologies Inc.
Jean-Michel Texier has been building digital solutions for media companies since the early days of the Internet. He founded Eurocortex, in France, where he built content management solutions specifically for news and media industry. When the company was acquired by Nstein Technologies in 2006, Texier took over as CTO and chief visionary, helping companies organize, package and monetize content through semantic analysis."
Mr Texier graduated as an Engineer from National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse (France) in "Computer Sciences & Applied Mathematics" (in 1993).

Sandra Macdonald, Vice-Chair, ISAN Canada
Having dealt with the policy challenges and practical problems of rights management throughout her career at the Department of Communications, CRTC, CFTPA, NFB and Canadian Television Fund, Sandra has been involved in efforts to create standardized, interoperable data management systems for audiovisual works for the past 25 years. The International Standard Audiovisual Number (ISAN), approved by the ISO in 2007, is one that she was involved in throughout its decade-long development, and has served on the board of ISAN Canada since its launch in 2008.

Scott Dyer is Chief Technology Officer for Corus Entertainment Inc., responsible for leading all of the Company's divisional and corporate technological undertakings. In this role, Scott has operational and strategic responsibility for the hardware, software, personnel and technical resources of Corus' core and new media businesses.
Prior to this position, Scott was Executive Vice President, General Manager, Corus Kids.  Scott began his tenure at Corus as Executive Vice President, Production and Development at Nelvana, which produces internationally renowned and award-winning children's animated content such as Babar and Franklin. At Nelvana, Scott helped guide the creative vision and technological development of Nelvana's high-calibre team of animators, developers and producers.
Trained as a mathematician at Carnegie Mellon University, Scott entered the animation business after spending three years in Utah working on visual systems for flight simulators. His first entertainment industry career saw him producing commercial effects for television at Cranston/Csuri Productions, one of the first computer animation companies in North America.

 Karen Thorne-Stone, President & CEO, Ontario Media Development Corporation
Karen Thorne-Stone was appointed President and CEO of the Ontario Media Development Corporation in July 2007.
The OMDC is a provincial agency which supports economic development in Ontario's cultural media industries. In this capacity, Karen is responsible to promote growth and investment in the province's entertainment and creative industries including:  film and television, interactive digital media, music, book and magazine publishing.
Previously Karen was with the city of Toronto, where, for over 18 years, she served in a variety of roles, including film commissioner and executive director of economic development. As film commissioner, Thorne-Stone supported successful negotiations for a new state-of-the-art film studio complex on Toronto's waterfront, developed an innovative economic development strategy for the screen-based sector and worked with the OMDC on the development of a new brand positioning and marketing materials to promote film and television production.
 

Doug Murphy, President, Nelvana and General Manager, Corus Kids

 Steven DeNure, President and COO, DHX Media
Steven DeNure, President and Chief Operating Officer of DHX Media, is responsible for overseeing overall operations of DHX Media and its subsidiaries. He also serves as Executive Producer on many of the company's television and interactive media projects.  Norm Bolen, President & CEO, Canadian Film & Television Producers Association
Norm Bolen is currently the President and CEO of the Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA), based in Ottawa. The CFTPA represents Canada's independent film, television and interactive producers.
Norm is the former Executive Vice President, Content, for Alliance Atlantis Communications. At Alliance Atlantis he had overall programming responsibility for thirteen Canadian specialty networks: Showcase, History Television, Slice, HGTV, Food Network Canada, BBC Canada, BBC Kids, Discovery Health Channel, National Geographic Channel, Independent Film Channel, Showcase Action, Showcase Diva and Fine Living Television.  Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, Canada New Media Fund
Valerie Creighton has over thirty years of experience in leading cultural organizations. Since joining the corporation in 2006 as President and CEO, Ms. Creighton's focus has been to position the CMF as a responsive and effective organization with funders, clients, and other stakeholders, to enhance relationships with national and international interests, and to support and promote Canadian media content.
Ms. Creighton successfully managed two major organizational events in the history of the corporation, including the transition of the Canadian Television Fund's program administration to Telefilm Canada and the creation of the Canada Media Fund. She developed a national stakeholder outreach program and restructured the organization to focus on policy development, research, and communications.
Previously, Ms. Creighton was the CEO and Film Commissioner for the Saskatchewan Film and Video Development Corporation and Manager of the Arts Section for the Province of Saskatchewan. She has produced radio dramas, sat on numerous CBC juries, won several awards, has participated in trade missions led by the Prime Minister of Canada and Premier of Saskatchewan, and sat on 12 boards from 1979 to the present and currently serves as a volunteer Chair of the Saskatchewan Foundation for the Arts.
 Karen Thorne-Stone, President & CEO, Ontario Media Development Corporation
Karen Thorne-Stone was appointed President and CEO of the Ontario Media Development Corporation in July 2007.
The OMDC is a provincial agency which supports economic development in Ontario's cultural media industries. In this capacity, Karen is responsible to promote growth and investment in the province's entertainment and creative industries including:  film and television, interactive digital media, music, book and magazine publishing.
Previously Karen was with the city of Toronto, where, for over 18 years, she served in a variety of roles, including film commissioner and executive director of economic development. As film commissioner, Thorne-Stone supported successful negotiations for a new state-of-the-art film studio complex on Toronto's waterfront, developed an innovative economic development strategy for the screen-based sector and worked with the OMDC on the development of a new brand positioning and marketing materials to promote film and television production.
 Dominique Sebastien Forest, Vice-President Digital, Transcontinental
As Vice-President Digital, Dominique-Sébastien Forest is responsible for Transcontinental Media digital media strategy, including the diversification of their product offering and the acceleration of the growth if the New Media and Digital Solutions Group. His mission is to create the most compelling and efficient online echo-system for Transcontinental clients. 
Mr Forest was previously Vice-President Digital Media and E-Commerce, at Quebecor Media, Vice President, Business Development at Puretracks, he was also editor of MSN Canada and founded Creative Research and Technology, Canada's first company specialized in advergaming.
Mr Forest is recognized for his ability to market innovations and develop effective commercialization strategy with emerging products. He has been a speaker in numerous events in Canada, the United States and Europe on different topics including the future of music, mobility, television and e-commerce. He is also member of the board of directors for the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) of Canada, co-chair of the Emerging Products Council for the IAB as well as an advisor for organizations like the Mobile Experience Innovation Center and NextMedia.
  
 Wilf Dinnick, Founding Editor, OpenFile.ca
Wilf Dinnick is the Founding Editor of Openfile, (Openfile.ca) a news website built for the digital age. Dinnick has worked as a reporter for all three Canadian TV networks before Peter Jennings hired him away to be the ABC News Middle East Correspondent. Most recently he was a CNN International Correspondent because in the Gulf,  responsible for covering the region that includes Pakistan, Afghanistan, parts of Africa and the Middle East.
Dinnick has covered many stories including the war in Iraq, Afghanistan's first democratic elections, the tsunami in South Asia, the death of Pope John Paul II and the Orange Revolution in the Ukraine. His reporting has taken him to several places around the world including Pakistan, Kuwait, Haiti, Iraq, Poland, Indonesia, Afghanistan, Ethiopia and the Ukraine.
Dinnick has won several awards including best continuing coverage of America's War on Terror, chosen by the news directors of Canada.

Craig Silverman is an award-winning Montreal journalist and author. As the managing editor of PBS MediaShift and a columnist for Columbia Journalism Review, he reports on the latest trends in the world of new media and journalism. Craig is also the digital journalism director of OpenFile, a new collaborative local news website for Toronto. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, Globe And Mail, The Gazette (Montreal), Toronto Star, and Harvard's Nieman Reports, among other publications.  Jacob Glick, Canada Policy Counsel, Google Canada
Jacob Glick is Google's Canada Policy Counsel. He is part of a global policy team, working with academics, civil society, industry and government to keep the Internet awesome.

Paulette Bourgeois, Author
Paulette Bourgeois is best-known for creating Franklin the Turtle, the character who appears in picture books illustrated by Brenda Clark. The books have sold more than 60 million copies around the world and have been translated into 38 languages. An animated television series, merchandise, DVDs and full-feature movies are based on the character. She is also the author of award-winning books for children including Oma's Quilt which was developed as a short film by the NFB, and more than two dozen non-fiction science books. Blush Productions in Vancouver has optioned her full-length feature film, Loving Mrs. Twiggy. She is a member of the Order of Canada, received an honourary doctorate degree from UWO and most recently graduated with an MFA from UBC.
 Denis Dyack, Founder and President, Silicon Knights
In this capacity, he oversees the creation and development of games, and continues to further the growth of the company. Dyack is a noted authority on interactive software development and offers valuable insight into the process of designing next-generation games that appeal to the masses. Under Dyack's direction, Silicon Knights has evolved into one of the world's largest independent interactive software developers.
Dyack (B. Phed, H. B.Sc, M. Sc.)  founded Silicon Knights in 1992 after publishing "Cyber Empires" in 1991.  Since that time, Silicon Knights has moved from creating PC games to premiere AAA console titles, such as "Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain" for the original Playstation. 
Working with Nintendo as a second party, Silicon Knights created the critically acclaimed "Eternal Darkness".  Together with Nintendo, Silicon Knights worked with Konami to create another critically acclaimed game, "Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes.  In 2008, Dyack and his team released "Too Human™" for the Microsoft® Xbox 360, which was published by Microsoft.
Wojtek Kawczynski, Managing Director, Transgaming
Wojtek runs the Studio division at TransGaming Inc., with responsibilities for growing the studio, setting strategy and overseeing day-to-day operations. The Studio division is TransGaming's internal game development group focused on original game development for GameTree.tv, Mac and PC platforms. Wojtek joined TransGaming in 2009 bringing over 10 years of early stage technology company operations experience from a variety of industries.
Prior to TransGaming, Wojtek headed-up the game division of SilverBirch Inc setting strategy, overseeing the operations of the publishing and development groups, identifying M&A opportunities, and leading the integration efforts within the division. Ken Coates, Dean, University of Waterloo, Faculty of Arts
Ken Coates is the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Waterloo. He is a well-known historian specializing in aboriginal studies and Canada's north.
Ken Coates is a passionate advocate for higher education with particular interest in digital media, Canadian competiveness and the Japanese science and technology revolution. Ken's vision includes a renewed appreciation for the traditional arts disciplines with a keen understanding of how these disciplines are key to society's future. The solutions to environmental issues to name just a few - will be found through the traditional disciplines in policy, behaviour and cultural change.

Sara Diamond, President, Ontario College of Art & Design
Sara Diamond, President of the Ontario College of Art & Design, holds a PhD in Computer Science and degrees in new media theory and practice, social history and communications. Diamond created and was Editor-in-Chief of www.horizonzero.ca, an on-line showcase for new media art and design, in collaboration with Heritage Canada and The Banff Centre.  She is a visualization and mobile media researcher/designer, creating www.codezebra.net, a performance and media art, fashion and software collaboration environment.
Diamond was the Director of Research for the Banff Centre, and created the renowned Banff New Media Institute in 1995 and led it until 2005.
In 2007 she was named one of Canada's fifty most significant artists during the Canada Council's fiftieth anniversary.  Her work resides in collections such as the National Gallery of Canada, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Museo des Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires.

The Honourable Diane Finley, P.C., M.P., Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, Member of Parliament for Haldimand-Norfolk
Diane Finley was first elected to Parliament in 2004 and re-elected in 2006 and 2008. In February 2006, she was appointed Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, and in January 2007, she was named Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.
Ms. Finley began her professional career as an administrator of the University of Western Ontario's French Immersion School. Prior to her election, she held several senior positions in both the public and private sectors encompassing health care, transportation, agricultural equipment manufacturing, printing and publishing, and aviation.
In addition, Ms. Finley has been active with a number of organizations, including the Brant Community Care Access Centre, the National Standards Committee of the Paramedic Association of Canada, the Ambulance Service Alliance of Ontario, and the Ontario Government Health Policy Advisory Council. Most recently, Ms. Finley has been working with the Thyroid Foundation of Canada.

Janet Murphy, Advanced Broadband Enabled Learning (ABEL) program for York University's Office of the Vice President Research and Innovation and York Region District School Board
Janet Murphy has over 30 years of varied teaching and leadership experience and she currently has the unique position of having responsibility in both K-12 and post secondary education. Janet currently leads and manages the Advanced Broadband Enabled Learning (ABEL) program for York University's Office of the Vice President Research and Innovation and York Region District School Board. She is also the Manager of Innovative Learning Solutions with Curriculum and Leadership Development for the YRDSB. In these positions, Janet provides leadership in the implementation of broadband and digital resources to students, staff and community. Janet has received provincial and national awards recognizing her leadership in the use of information communications technology for education, including: two ORION awards for Learning and for Leadership (2006); Learning Partnership Technology Innovation Award (2005 and 2003); the Information Highways e-Content Award for Education (2002); the Prime Minister's Award of Excellence (2001); and, the Roberta Bondar Millennium Award of Excellence, (January 2000).  Janet has presented papers on the effective use of technology for teaching and learning at conferences and events around the world. 
Tim Workman, Project Manager for Strategic Partnerships, National Research Council Institute for Information Technology
Major (Retired) Timothy Workman served in the Canadian Forces for 19 years, most of which was spent at CFB Gagetown in support of Army Individual Training; during this time, he fulfilled many educational roles such as instructor, course/curriculum designer, learning project and program manager, and senior staff officer for training enhancement.
During the last five years of his military career, he was tasked with developing innovative training delivery programs as part of a broader Land Force initiative for Training Modernization.  As the head of the Training Enhancement Branch within the Army Individual Training Authority Headquarters, he led numerous efforts to exploit existing and emerging technologies, learning theories, and educational practices within the field of individual training & education.
His is currently working with the National Research Council Institute for Information Technology as Project Manager for Strategic Partnerships.  A focus of his current efforts within NRC is to establish a national Centre of Excellence for Advanced Learning and Technology in conjunction with partners from government, academia, and industry.
Ryan Nadel, Digital Media Producer and Strategist
Ryan Nadel (http://ryannadel.com) is a digital media producer and strategist. He is a graduate of the Masters of Digital Media program in Vancouver, BC and is currently working on a digital learning strategy for an international education company. He brings the experience of a writer for traditional print media publications and a digital strategist and producer for the US Government and various new media companies. His journalistic work has been published internationally on topics ranging from arts and culture to Israel's high tech scene. He has worked with clients such as the Vancouver Olympic Committee, the US Department of Energy, and The Associated Press. Most recently he was working in British Columbia's Great Bear Rainforest designing and developing interactive educational activities for the local communities in the region.
Gerri Sinclair, Executive Director of the Masters of Digital Media Program, Centre for Digital Media, Great Northern Way Campus
Dr. Gerri Sinclair's cross-domain career includes more than 20 years' experience spanning the fields of internet and new media technology, entrepreneurial business, academic research, and government policy.
Sinclair is currently the Executive Director of the Masters of Digital Media Program at Vancouver's Centre for Digital Media, Great Northern Way Campus. As the former chair of The Telecom Policy Review, she advised the Federal Government of Canada on the policy and regulatory environment required to support an advanced telecommunications framework. She was also the General Manager of MSN Canada, as well as the founder and CEO of NCompass Labs, an Internet web content management company spun out of Simon Fraser University in 1996 and acquired by Microsoft in 2001.
She is currently a director of the Toronto Stock Exchange, Ballard Power, the, the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and the Advisory Board on Canada's Digital Economy Strategy.  She is also the Executive Director of the GRAND Network of Centres of Excellence in Games, Animation and New Media, that was recently awarded $23M from the Canadian government and brings together 50 researches at 19 universities across Canada to investigate new applications in the emerging field of digital media.
Jeannette Kopak, Director of Business Development and Operations, Centre for Digital Media
Jeannette Kopak holds the position of Director of Business Development and Operations at the Centre for Digital Media in Vancouver. In that capacity she managed the renovation of a 40-year-old tractor factory, transforming it into a digital media graduate facility, and the home of the Masters of Digital Media program. Jeannette is responsible for ensuring the Centre continues to adapt to the needs of the students and the digital community.
Jeannette is a digital media veteran with 16 years of experience at the Canadian Broadcast Corporation, in roles that ranged from designing and implementing the CBC Vancouver TV newsroom editorial system to facilitating the re-use of broadcast content for the early websites such as the Atlanta Olympics and the 1997 Federal Election. The highlight of her CBC career was leading a multi-million dollar, multi-year project to catalogue, restore, digitize and preserve the CBC radio and television archives across Canada.
Sean Van Koughnett, Founder and Director, VeloCity
Sean Van Koughnett is the founder and director of VeloCity, a student residence-based incubator for digital media start-ups at uWaterloo established in 2008. In 2006, Sean led the "media and mobility network project", which succeeded in bringing an IPTV pilot of commercial broadcast television content to uWaterloo's student residences, the first pilot of its kind in Canada. Sean has served the University of Waterloo in five different roles since 2001, and has been a staff member or student in five of uWaterloo's six Faculties. While a student at uWaterloo, he was an academic All-Canadian and a member of Canada's national basketball team. As a graduate student in the mid 1990's, Sean's research centred on the impact of university innovation and commercialization on local economic development. Prior to joining uWaterloo, Sean spent five years in the private sector in marketing and corporate communications.
 Greg Van Alstyne, Director of Research, Strategic Innovation Lab (sLab), Ontario College of Art & Design
Greg Van Alstyne is Associate Professor in Design and Director of Research, sLab at OCAD. He is Principal Investigator for 2020 Media Futures, an ambitious, multi-industry strategic foresight project funded by OMDC that asks what media will look like in 2020, and how Ontario firms can take action today to capture and maintain positions of national and international leadership. Greg's theoretical research looks at innovation as a form of emergence in complex systems. He has developed graphic, environmental, interaction and experience design for international publishers, agencies and brands. Prior to his OCAD appointments Greg was inaugural director of the innovative Institute without Boundaries (IwB), where he led student teams in the conception, design and production of Massive Change: The Future of Global Design. His past industry posts include Creative Director at IconNicholson NY, and founding head of the Department of New Media at The Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Tracey Levison, Co-Founder, Above & Beyond Learning Company

Using his experience with Wilson and a degree in Urban Planning, Andrew opened a first of its kind, experiential learning facility in Toronto called Above & Beyond - The Centre for Adventurous Learning.  Andrew's areas of focus and expertise include designing and facilitating leadership development, employee engagement, and helping people and organizations manage growth and change. Andrew also speaks on the topic of Web 2.0 and Social Networking and it's impact on the way we need to lead our companies. He has an impressive client list that runs the gamut of CEOs, senior leaders, and employees working for both "for profit" and "not for profit" companies. Dana Morningstar, Chair of The School of Contemporary Media, Fanshawe College
Dana Morningstar is the Chair of The School of Contemporary Media at Fanshawe College. The Contemporary Media area has 18 cluster programs including radio, TV, multimedia, animation, filmmaking, photography, music industry arts, theatre, fine art, public relations and journalism. From 1996 to 2009 she was the Program Coordinator for a post graduate certificate in Corporate Communication and Public Relations. She has an ongoing interest in social media, public relations, popular culture and student/client projects. Dana was instrumental in launching the Collaborative Fanshawe/Western Media Theory and Production degree/diploma program and in launching the Theatre Arts - Performance programs in 2002. She served for several years as a board member of the London Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators and now serves on the Fanshawe College Program Approval Committee (PAC) and the Research Ethics Board (REB). Dana's M. Ed. thesis was on collaborative programming in Ontario colleges and universities. She also has a B.Ed. and an honours degree in English and art history.

Kevin provides academic leadership and oversight for the School of Information Technology which includes programs in the areas of networking, systems administration, programming, web development, gaming, information security, office administration and law clerk. Kevin works with Professors, industry, students and graduates to ensure that our programs have a high level of quality and graduate skill sets meet the needs of the employers. Kevin also serves on various college committees and working groups and provides input into strategic decisions as part of the academic management group. Previous to his role at Fanshawe, Kevin was a Project Manager and Product Development Manager with two companies, respectively, in the information and communications technology sector. Kevin also has work experience as a Professor and Researcher in the field of GIS and spatial modeling. Kevin holds a M.Sc. in GIS/Spatial Modeling, an Honours BA in Geography and a Post-Graduate Certificate in GIS.

Mihaela Ulieru, NSERC Canada Research Chair, Adaptive Information Infrastructures for the eSociety
Professor Mihaela Ulieru has held the position since 2005 when she also established at the University of New Brunswick (with Canada Foundation for Innovation funding) the Adaptive Risk Management Laboratory (ARM Lab). Researching Complex Networks as Control Paradigm for Complex Systems Professor Ulieru and her group shed light on the vulnerabilities arising from the interplay between social organization factors and interdependent physical infrastructures targeting the increase in effectiveness of public safety and security operations through the deployment of digital ecosystems.
Professor Ulieru obtained her PhD (1995) in computational intelligence applied to systems diagnostics at Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany. Her academic career started as Lecturer in Computer Science and Information Systems at Brunel University, London, UK. A postdoctoral fellowship at Simon Fraser University brought her to Canada in 1997 and in 1998 she was awarded the Junior Nortel Chair at the University of Calgary where she founded in 2002 (under contract of international cooperation with Berkeley Initiative in Soft Computing) the Emergent Information Systems Laboratory.

Emma Westecott
Emma Westecott has worked in and around the game industry for over 17 years.
She achieved international recognition for working closely with Douglas Adams as producer for the best-selling CD-ROM Adventure Game, Starship Titanic (1998, Simon & Schuster). Since then, Emma has built up a worldwide reputation for developing original as well as popular game projects and products, securing development funding for arts-led independent games practice with partner Alex Mayhew. During this time she has established herself as a figurehead and spokeswoman for a more artistic approach to gaming.
Emma has been invited to present her vision and philosophy at many prestigious venues including BAFTA, the Tate, the Banff Centre and the Interactive Entertainment Conference LA. She has spoken alongside the Obig players¹ of the industry such as Peter Molyneux (Lionhead) and Will Wright(Maxis) of The Sims fame. Emma directed the zerogame studio for The Interactive Institute in Sweden, where an impressive body of applied research was created under her leadership. Dr. Jennifer Jenson is Associate Professor of Pedagogy and Technology in the Faculty of Education at York University. Her work includes, gender and digital gameplay, designing games for education, and she is currently President of the Canadian Game Studies Association and co-editor of its journal Loading.
Dr. Rick Miner, President Emeritus, Seneca
Dr. Rick Miner, Seneca's President Emeritus, served as Seneca President from August 2001 to July 2009, at which time he retired from that position.
Prior to joining Seneca, he was Vice-President, University of New Brunswick for seven years. Before his term at UNB, he was at Saint Mary's University in Nova Scotia where he served as Director of the Canada/China Language and Cultural Program from 1989 to 1993, Dean of Commerce from 1982 to 1987, and MBA Director from 1978 to 1981. Dr. Miner has also held faculty positions with the University of New Brunswick, the University of Toronto and Saint Mary's University.
He has written books and papers on the subjects of management and organizational behaviour, and has spoken extensively in Canada and abroad on these and related topics. Jane Tallim, Media Awareness Network
A former secondary teacher, Jane first joined Media Awareness Network (MNet) in 1995. She has also worked in strategic education and youth engagement within the child and youth mental health sector. An internationally recognized specialist in media education and digital literacy, Jane has been part of MNet's groundbreaking research on Young Canadians in a Wired World and has developed many of its award-winning media and digital literacy resources and programs. Believing in the importance of equipping young people with the necessary tools and critical thinking skills to participate fully in digital society as users, creators and innovators, Jane has extensively promoted an educational approach to addressing issues relating to children, youth and digital media.
Paul Davidson, President, AUCC
Paul Davidson has played leadership roles in government, the private sector and the voluntary sector. He has been named president and CEO of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, for a five-year term beginning May 11, 2009.
Mr. Davidson was appointed executive director of World University Service of Canada (or WUSC) in October 2002. At WUSC, Mr. Davidson has pursued strategic partnerships with the Centre for International Studies and Co-operation (or CECI) and Farm Radio International that are attracting national and international attention for their innovation and impact. WUSC is now active on more than 70 campuses across Canada and in over 17 countries.

Martha Ladly, Associate Professor, Ontario College of Art & Design
Martha Ladly is an associate professor at the Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD) in Toronto, Canada. She is the director of the OCAD Interdisciplinary Master's Program in Art, Media and Design, and the Chair of the Research Ethics Board. Martha specializes in technology in art and design, and she is a senior researcher with the OCAD Mobile Experience Lab. She was formerly the Director of HorizonZero (www.horizonzero.ca) the Canadian digital arts and culture website. Martha also had a prominent international recording career as a musician, performer, and writer. She earned two certified gold discs, numerous top-ten singles and albums, and a Juno award. Throughout the 1990s Martha worked with artist Peter Gabriel and Real World, leading design teams for award-winning interactive arts and entertainment projects. Martha is an author and the co-editor of the anthology Mobile Nation: Creating Methodologies for Mobile Platforms.
Valerie Fox, Director, Ryerson Digital Media Zone & Innovative Technology Solutions
Valerie Fox is helping foster digital innovation within Canada, as the Director of the newly formed Ryerson Digital Media Zone (DMZ), a collaborative innovation accelerator space that helps bring students' innovative ideas to life. Valerie is responsible for attracting students to the multi-disciplinary space to successfully launch products and services, and is focused on making connections with industry and other academic institutions to partner and collaborate with the DMZ.
In addition, Valerie is the Director of Innovative Technology Solutions at Ryerson, and uses a combination of creativity, process, and technology to design and implement inside-out/outside-in approaches to create more integrated and collaborative working relationships.
 Roel Vertegaal, Associate Professor, Queens University
Dr. Roel Vertegaal is one of Canada's leading designers of future interactive technologies. Roel is Associate Professor in Human-Computer Interaction at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, where he directs the Human Media Laboratory. He is also founder and CTO of Xuuk, Inc., a startup that develops attention sensors for interactive, real-world viewing statistics gathering (www.xuuk.com).
Roel's first degree was in Music from Utrecht Conservatory in the Netherlands, prior to which he studied Visual Arts at The Hague's Free Academy. The musical user interfaces he worked on are now featured on equipment designed by Apple and Korg. He studied Computing in Britain, and holds a PhD in Computing from Twente University in The Netherlands. Since then Roel has become one of the world's experts on eye communication between humans, first demonstrating the function of eye contact on human group communication. He developed the world's first long range eye trackers, which operate beyond 10 meters, and their application in Attentive User Interfaces, for which he received the Premier's Research Excellence Award.
His work featured in media across the globe, from Good Morning America to Fox News, Discovery Channel, Wired, Scientific American and Businessweek. Roel has given invited presentations at Philips, Samsung, Microsoft Research, Xerox PARC, Stanford University, Changing the World, MIT Media Lab, Delft University and Sequioa Capital, amongst others. He helped create the first North-American conference on Eye Tracking (ACM ETRA), and developed alt.chi as an artistic alternative papers venue at the annual ACM SIGCHI conference, for which he served as Associate Papers Chair. He advised the National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC., and has been a member of the NSERC Network of Excellence NECTAR.
 Michael Longford, Associate Chair, Department of Design, York University
Michael Longford is the Associate Chair in the Department of Design at York University. He is Co-Director of the Mobile Media Lab (MML), which is made up of an interdisciplinary research team exploring wireless communications, rich media content development for mobile technologies, and locative media practices. He was a founding member of Hexagram: Institute for Research and Creation in Media Arts and Technologies in Montreal, and served for three years as the Director for the Advanced Digital Imaging and 3D Rapid Prototyping Group. His most recent project, Tentacles, co-developed with the Ontario College of Art and Design and the Canadian Film Centre uses the iPhone/iPod touch to create a multi-user ambient gaming experience projected into public spaces.

Jutta Treviranus, Adaptive Technology Research Centre
Jutta Treviranus' research and academic agenda are to make sure that our emerging information and communication technology systems and practices do not exclude anyone who has a disability, speaks another language, or has different cultural preferences. She passionately believes that designing for diversity leads to innovation and creativity and that diversity and inclusion are Canada's greatest assets. She established and directs the Adaptive Technology Research Centre (ATRC), an internationally recognized centre of expertise on inclusive design of emerging information and communication systems and practices. She also heads the Inclusive Design Institute a multi-institutional research initiative. She has led a large number of national and international multi-partner research networks (including Fluid, TILE, CNICE, CulturAll, Stretch and the Barrierfree project), that have produced a range of broadly implemented technical innovations that support inclusion.
She plays a key role in pivotal accessibility standards efforts (e.g.
chair of W3C Authoring Tool Working Group, chair of IMS AccessForAll Specification Working Groups, Project Editor within ISO/IEC JTC1 SC36). She is a member of many advisory panels and task forces relevant to IT policy, strategy and design internationally. Jutta holds faculty appointments at both the Ontario College of Art and Design and the University of Toronto.
Philippe Le Roux, Founder, Pheromone
Since the early 1980s, Philippe Le Roux's involvement in data communication pilot projects in Europe and North America have allowed him to develop a vision of user-centred online services and the study of their behaviour. Philippe has made a name for himself on the international scene through conferences, consulting mandates on three continents, the publication of reference books in the United States and France and teaching at the Université de Paris-X and the Université de Montréal. From 1987 to 1994, Philippe was the president of the online services and technology R&D company Servacom America. He then founded VDL2 (now Pheromone) with four partners who share a vision: a web that is defined by Internet users and not by the latest technological advances or trends. Dr.S.Ghosal is currently the Acting Dean of the R&D Campus of National Institute of Design at Bangalore. He joined the National Institute of Design in 1987 in the Faculty of Industrial Design.  His parent subject being Ergonomics / Human Factors, he has worked in almost all areas of design. Dr. Ghosal was in charge of NID's training activities as Vice-Chairman, Training during the period 1996 - 2000.  During the period 2000 - 2002, he was in charge of NID's Outreach Activities as the Activity Chairman.  Till date, he has been the recipient of a number of international scholarships from the World Health Organisation, British Council, International Council of Societies of Industrial Design etc., Dr. Ghosal holds a Ph.D from the University of Calcutta, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management of Technology from the All India Management Association, New Delhi and he has about 20 publications, nationally and internationally. Dr. Ghosal's areas of interest range from User Interface Design, Management of R&D and Product Innovation, Strategic intervention of design in new business developments, systems development and integration.

Dean Prelazzi, Director of ICT & Digital Media, B.C. Innovation Council
Dean is Director of ICT & Digital Media at the B.C. Innovation Council and authored  a paper in 2009 in support of the BC Business Council's Outlook 2020 project entitled "Innovation & Commercialization: Rising to the Challenge through a Business Acceleration Ecosystem".  The paper describes recent work by the OECD to define entrepreneurship performance indicators and establishes a definition for entrepreneurship infrastructure.  Dean has been working and consulting in the technology industry in Canada & the U.S. (Silicon Valley) for the past 15 in sales, marketing, and product management, primarily with startups, and has a diverse technology background spanning telecommunications, networking, enterprise and business productivity applications, digital media/social networking, and SaaS applications. He has spoken at technology events around the world and is a member of the B.C. Stan M. Shapson, Ph.D., Vice-President Research & Innovation, York University
Dr. Shapson's research and innovation interests have spanned the fields of technology enhanced learning, bilingual and multicultural education, and the development of innovative programs and policies.  He has published widely; his research and publications have received awards from the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and the Canadian Journal of Education (CJE).  He has been awarded numerous grants and contracts for his research totalling over $6 million and has directed large-scale, externally funded, national and provincial studies.  He has been a principal researcher for a variety of national studies such as the NCE - TeleLearning, the SSHRC Strategic Theme (Knowledge-based Economy), the CANARIE funded broadband learning program ABEL (Advanced Broadband Enabled Learning), and the federal Tri-Council IPM/Knowledge Mobilization initiative.
In his administrative role at York, Dr. Shapson's strategy has shifted from his own individual research to focus on building institutional R&I capacity collaboratively with municipalities, community hospitals, and private sector companies on economic and social innovation cluster initiatives.

Recognized as one of the "100 Most Influential People" in the world of Knowledge Management by KMWorld for five years in a row, Tom Jenkins has been involved with the Internet since it emerged as a major public network in the early 1990s. He has held executive positions at Open Text Corporation since 1995 and was instrumental in the creation of one of the first Internet search engines used by Netscape®, Yahoo!®, and IBM®. Tom went on to direct the development of the first Internet-based Document Management system, as well the earliest versions of Internet-based workflow, portal, and online meeting software. All of these component technologies are early forerunners of current Enterprise Content Management (ECM) technology.  Gerri Sinclair, Executive Director of the Masters of Digital Media Program, Centre for Digital Media, Great Northern Way Campus
Dr. Gerri Sinclair's cross-domain career includes more than 20 years' experience spanning the fields of internet and new media technology, entrepreneurial business, academic research, and government policy.
Sinclair is currently the Executive Director of the Masters of Digital Media Program at Vancouver's Centre for Digital Media, Great Northern Way Campus. As the former chair of The Telecom Policy Review, she advised the Federal Government of Canada on the policy and regulatory environment required to support an advanced telecommunications framework. She was also the General Manager of MSN Canada, as well as the founder and CEO of NCompass Labs, an Internet web content management company spun out of Simon Fraser University in 1996 and acquired by Microsoft in 2001.
She is currently a director of the Toronto Stock Exchange, Ballard Power, the, the Canadian Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council and the Advisory Board on Canada's Digital Economy Strategy.  She is also the Executive Director of the GRAND Network of Centres of Excellence in Games, Animation and New Media, that was recently awarded $23M from the Canadian government and brings together 50 researches at 19 universities across Canada to investigate new applications in the emerging field of digital media.
 Ian Wilson, Director, University of Waterloo - Stratford Initiative
Ian joined the Stratford Initiative as Director in 2009. When he retired from his post as Librarian and Archivist of Canada in 2009, he became the Librarian and Archivist of Canada Emeritus.
Ian's career spans many areas, including archival and information management, university teaching and government service. He has worked diligently to make archives accessible and interesting to a wide range of audiences. While helping to safeguard the integrity of archival records and library services, he has encouraged public involvement and outreach. He has published extensively on history, archives, heritage and information management and has lectured nationally and internationally.
Ian holds honorary degrees from both Queen's University and York University, is a Member of the Order of Canada, holds an appointment of Commandeur de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France, is a recipient of the 2005 Award of Merit from the Association for Canadian Studies. He is also a fellow of the Association of Canadian Archivists, the Society of American Archivists and the Archives Association of Ontario.
